What we store
- The files you upload, until the link expires or is deleted.
- Your email address and login details if you create an account.
- Billing status from Paddle (subscription status and renewal date). Card details never reach us.
Expiry reminders
If you ask us to remind you before a link is deleted, we store that email address with the link and send one email the day before. We delete the address when the link is deleted and never use it for anything else.
Page view analytics
When someone opens a hosted page or a page on Dropsite itself, we record the time, the page, the country (from our CDN, if available), the referring website's domain and any campaign tag in the link. To count unique visitors without cookies we keep a one-way hash of the IP address and browser, mixed with a random value that is replaced every day, so the same visitor cannot be recognised from one day to the next. We do not store IP addresses and we do not set cookies on hosted pages.
Analytics on dropsite.page and bot protection
On dropsite.page (never on hosted pages) we use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, to count visits and see which pages and websites bring people to us.
We also use Google Analytics. It sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site only if you accept the cookie banner; until then it runs in a cookieless mode that sends Google anonymous signals without identifiers. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
Forms that anyone can submit without an account (anonymous uploads, sign-up, abuse reports and the waitlist) are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals from your browser to tell people from bots.
Retention after deletion
When a site is deleted or expires, its files are removed. We keep the site record (its link name and dates) and the anonymous aggregate analytics described above, so overall statistics stay accurate and the link name is never handed to someone else. These records cannot identify visitors.
If you need a site record removed entirely, contact us and we will purge it.
Cookies
On this website we use a session cookie when you sign in, a CSRF cookie for form security, and a signed cookie that remembers which links you uploaded so you can claim them later.
